North Adelaide holds some of the oldest continuously occupied housing in the state, and a great deal of it predates the damp course entirely. The pattern here is bluestone with wide lime joints, often two storeys, frequently with the footpath running hard against the front wall. Because the stone itself is dense, the damage shows up in the mortar first — raked joints, salt bloom at skirting height inside, and render that will not hold on the lower courses. Heritage listing is common through the terraces, which can constrain the method and lengthen the timeline, so it is worth establishing before a quote rather than after one.
